When she becomes engaged to Andrew, the son of the mayor of New York City, Melanie announces that she has to go back home alone to Alabama to tell her parents in person.

Reese Witherspoon stars in SWEET HOME ALABAMA, a charming romantic comedy directed by Andy Tennant. Witherspoon is Melanie Carmichael, a Southern girl who leaves her past behind in order to find success as a fashion designer in New York City. On the night of a hugely important show, her charming and romantic boyfriend, Andrew , proposes to her. It is at that point that Melanie flees for Alabama, hoping to take care of some unfinished business before Andrew and his mother, New York mayor Kate Hennings , discover the truth about her. The truth is that Melanie, whose real last name is Smooter, is still married to her childhood sweetheart, Jake , who refuses to grant her a divorce.
A mid-western farm boy reluctantly becomes a member of the undead when a girl he meets turns out to be part of a band of southern vampires who roam the highways in stolen cars. Part of his initiation includes a bloody assault on a hick bar. A holiday battle of wills between pilot Jenny Beckett and Matt Hansen, a number-crunching CEO who purchases Jenny's family-owned, regional airline. Matt's cost-cutting initiatives threaten Christmas when he cancels the airline's annual holiday charitable benefit for underserved children.
Sleeping With Other People (
The two actors played childhood soulmates who grow up and get married, only to have their relationship fall apart when Melanie leaves Jake to pursue a fashion career in New York City. A mid-credits sequence shows that they have a baby daughter, Melanie continues to thrive as a designer, and Jake opens a "Deep South Glass" franchise in New York. This is a pretty solid sequel, thanks in large part to franchise creator John Hughes who wrote the script.
The biggest issue (and it's a really big one) about the first sequel in the franchise is that it's a carbon copy of the original. Despite the story itself being lame, there are some impressive traps and physical comedy. The latest movie in the franchise was made specifically for Disney+, and though it has a bigger budget and bigger stars than the previous two listed, it's still mediocre. If the lame acting and story weren't bad enough, even the traps set for the villains are pathetic. It indicates a way to close an interaction, or dismiss a notification.

A reshoot was done where after the kiss on the beach, Sheriff Wade tracks them down and brings them back to the bar where the friends and family scramble to make up a wedding reception. And when Melanie and Jake arrive they dance to, you guessed it, "Sweet Home Alabama." Melanie learns that Jake had once gone to New York City to try to find her, because he still loved her. That night, she goes to the cemetery to tell her old coon dog Bear good bye.
When she wakes up the next morning, the divorce papers are laying on her bed signed by Jake. One day, Noah brings Allie to an ancient house that he dreams of buying and restoring and they attempt to make love but get interrupted by their friend. Allie's parents do not approve of their romance since Noah belongs to another social class, and they move to New York with her. Noah writes 365 letters to Allie, but her mother Anne Hamilton does not deliver them to her daughter. Three years later, the United States joins the World War II and Noah and his best friend Fin enlist in the army, and Allie works as an army nurse. After the war, they meet each other again going on dates and then, Lon, who is wealthy and handsome, proposes.
American Wedding (
The alien, or Starman, as he is called, has a deadline to meet, and kidnaps Jenny in order to meet it. Behavior gets her tossed by her step-mother from her dad's house; worse behavior gets her tossed from Rose's apartment. Then, while searching in her father's desk for money to filch, Maggie finds an address; the past and the future open up to her and, with any luck, may open to her sister as well.
Jake shows up and explains how he told the dog that her disappearance was his fault and they end up talking about why the marriage did not work, the baby they lost, and why she left. Jake gives a blessing for Melanie to have a good life with Andrew, but Melanie says she cannot do it and kisses Jake. Witherspoon has the charm, sparkle, and impeccable comic timing to keep an entire movie afloat and make it look effortless. It takes every bit of her talent and all-around adorability to keep this romantic comedy aloft, considering the considerable weight of its uncertain script. Without her, even the enticing premise and an exceptionally able supporting cast would sink under the weight of a plot that somehow manages to be both predictable and disjointed. The movie spends too much time reuniting Melanie with people from her past.
He tells everyone, "Melanie Carmichael is dead." Everyone is in shock. Then he says, "Long live Felony Melanie," which is the nickname from her youth. They then go and dance as the Lynyrd Skynyrd song "Sweet Home Alabama" plays and the credits start.

But when he proposes to her, she doesn't forget about her family back down South. To set matters straight, she decides to go to the south quick and make him sign the papers. When things don't turn out the way she planned them, she realizes that what she had before in the south was far more perfect than the life she had in New York City. During Melanie and Andrew's wedding at the Carmichael estate, a lawyer arrives and halts the ceremony. Melanie confesses that she still loves Jake and cancels the wedding.
Wynn's Pond in Sharpsburg, Georgia, is the location where Jake lands his plane. The historic homes shown at Melanie's return to Pigeon Creek were shot in Eufaula, Alabama. The streets and storefronts of Crawfordville, Georgia, were used as the backdrop for the Catfish Festival and other downtown scenes. The coonhound cemetery was on Moore Street in Crawfordville and the bar was located at Heavy's Barbecue near the town. Glass that forms when lightning hits sand, as in the film, is called fulgurite.
